Properly Functioning Gutters Protect Against Water Problems

Gutters and downspouts are both important to a home's functioning but get little recognition or attention. Because they move roof water runoff away from your home's foundation or basement, it's really the first line of defense against a developing water issue and potential flooding.

Having a great water management system can protect your topsoil, siding and trim from dripping water that can do a lot of damage over time and even cause rot.

Bone Dry Roofing's professional experts can analyze and install new gutters to carry water away from home and keep it dry.

So don't wait to replace your gutters, start your FREE gutter price estimate today!

New Downspout Installed on Commercial Building in Mt. Washington

This commercial building was having too much water overflowing from their gutters in a certain spot.

Adoon Smith went out there to help find a solution. He suggested that we install a downspout at the rear of the building to help keep the flow of the water going. The customer thought it was a good idea.

So we installed a 10-foot downspout that helped the water flow out of the gutter. No more overflowing water. Problem solved!

What Shape Are Your Gutters In?

The majority of homes have gutters but still end up with water damage. This is often because gutters can clog with leaves, sticks and debris which then causes water to overflow when it rains.

Gutters are often also pitched incorrectly or aren't large enough for the roofing area water it carries away. A great tip is to also install downspout extensions to carry the water farther away from the home. Plus, guttters that are dented and damaged don't look very nice and can make a home look older than it needs to.

Things to Think About When Choosing Gutters or Downspouts:

Custom gutters and downspouts installed in KY

Custom made gutters.  Aluminum gutters can be made specifically for your home. A truck is easily brought on the job to convert aluminum sheets into a gutter for your home.

Since old gutters and downspouts commonly get damaged and don't look nice, most homeowners choose to replace the old gutters with new gutters. And there are a lot of choices to choose from. Here are some gutter choices to consider:

  • Gutter Material: Most gutters have been made from material like wood, steel, copper and seamless aluminum gutters. Aluminum gutters tend to be the most popular because it gives you an affordable, durable choice with many colors to choose from. Sometimes historic homes for example, warrant steel, copper gutters or wood gutters to match the historic look.
  • Colors: For gutters that match a specific color, aluminum gutters are usually the best choice. They come in many colors and hues available.
  • Style: Different gutter “profiles” are available. Aluminum gutters are often formed in a “K” profile that includes a flat back section and a curved front. Half-round gutters can sometimes be found on older houses.
  • Size: K-style gutters come in 5-in. and 6-in. sizes. The larger size is usually specified when the roof area being drained is especially large and/or steep. An experienced gutter installer will be able to determine which size is best for your house.
  • Gutter guards: This popular gutter add-on prevents gutters from clogging and overflowing – a smart addition to any gutter installation.
  • Additional drainage options: Downspout extensions are sometimes necessary to carry roof runoff away from the house. Many of these simply extend out over the yard or garden, while others consist of buried pipe that drains to a dry well or daylight outlet.
